Feature | Machinability: It has relatively fair machinability. It is easier to machine in the hard temper than as annealed and the quality of finish is better if machined in the hard condition. Oil lubricants should be used for machining, except that very light cuts may be done dry. | |||||||||||
Forming: It is readily formed at room temperature. Successive cold working decreases the formability. | ||||||||||||
Heat Treatment: It cannot be hardened by means of heat treatment. It does harden due to cold working. | ||||||||||||
Forging: It may be forged in the temperature range of 950 F down to 500 F | ||||||||||||
Cold Working: The alloy cold works readily and may be formed by drawing or spinning. However the amount of cold work imparted by spinning makes intermediate annealing necessary. | ||||||||||||
Annealing: Anneal at 650 F and air cool. | ||||||||||||
Hardening: Hardens only from cold working. | ||||||||||||

Oil Drilling Grade CMC use in drilling fluid, fixing fluid and fracturing fluid as viscosifier, filtration reducer and rheology controller. In drilling fluid, it can protect the shaft wall and prevent mud flowing away that enhances mining efficiency.
In fixing fluid, Oil drilling grade CMC is used to stop the fluid entering into the pores and cracks, control the fluid viscosity and precent fluid loss. In the fracturing fluid, it can carry stuffing and avoid fluid loss.
For oil and gas drilling, digging and other projects
â‘ Oil drilling grade CMC-containing mud can make the wall thin and strong, low permeability of the filter cake, so that the loss of water decreased.
â‘¡ Adding Oil Drilling CMC to the mud enables the drill to get a low initial shear force, which makes it easy for the mud to release the gas trapped in the mud while quickly discarding the debris in the mud pit.
â‘¢ Drilling mud, like other suspended dispersions, has a certain period of existence. After adding CMC, it can make it stable and prolong its existence period.
â‘£ Oil drilling grade CMC containing mud, little affected by mold, so no need to maintain a high PH value, do not need to use preservatives.
⑤ with CMC for mud drilling mud treatment agent, resistant to various soluble salts pollution.
⑥ mud containing CMC, good stability, even at temperatures above 150 ℃ can still reduce water loss.
Oil drilling grade CMC with high viscosity and high degree of substitution is suitable for less dense mud. CMC with low viscosity and high degree of substitution is suitable for dense mud. Selection of CMC should be based on mud types and regions, well depth and other conditions to decide.
