SABIC Innovative Plastics launches resin-made fenders

A few days ago, Mitsubishi Motors introduced the latest RVR compact crossover. This car stands out from the competition thanks to its front fender made of SABIC Innovative Plastics Noryl GTX resin.

It is understood that this section of the RVR is Mitsubishi and the world's leading engineering thermoplastics supplier SABIC Innovative Plastics successfully cooperated with the use of NorylGTX fenders. By using injection-molded Noryl GTX resin, Mitsubishi designers have created complex fender structures that have a sharp front edge and leave side slots for side turn lights. Moreover, this material greatly improves the flexibility of the fender, allowing the vehicle to absorb frontal impacts well in pedestrian accidents and allowing the fenders to recover from minor collision damage. At the same time, Mitsubishi has substantially reduced the weight of the fender by nearly 50% by using this high-performance resin as a substitute for steel.

According to Greé„„gory A. Adams, vice president of SABIC Innovative Plastics, the successful cooperation with Mitsubishi is of great significance. This is the first time that Asian automakers have used Noryl GTX resin again. It is reported that Mitsubishi has announced that it will promote the latest eco-friendly car named Mitsubishi ASX to the European market later this year.
