The competition was co-sponsored by Häfele Hardware (China) Co., Ltd. and the China Architecture and Interior Designer Network. The main purpose of the competition was to collect design plans for the Häfele Shanghai Experience Hall. The competition has two parts, a professional group and a student group, with a total prize of up to 100,000 yuan.

The theme of the contest is “Creative Functionalityâ€, which aims to uphold the brand concept of Häfele – “Building the function that belongs to youâ€. Häfele currently has large-scale experience halls in Beijing and Shenzhen. It displays the hardware functions in the office, kitchen, bathroom and hotel areas, enabling designers to experience the quality and functionality of Häfele hardware.

In order to ensure the fairness and openness of the competition, the organizers specially invited a strong jury of the lineup, including Lin Zhenzhong (American), a special interior design expert of the China Foreign Experts Bureau, and a doctoral tutor of the Department of Architecture of Tongji University, Zeng Xiang, Hong Yue. Joseph Design, General Manager of Joseph Design , Joachim Bendl, Dean of the School of Continuing Education at Bauhaus University, Germany, and Petra Vogelsang, Director of Häfele Marketing.
