It is reported that India's ethylene production capacity will grow rapidly in the next few years, and India will add 4 million tons/year of ethylene production capacity by 2015. Recent new ethylene capacity projects in India include: Haldia Petrochemical plans to expand its ethylene plant capacity in West Bengal, India, from 523,000 tons/year to 670,000 tons/year in the first half of 2010; Trust Industry’s ethylene plant in Hazira The renewal project will be completed in the second half of 2010. The energy expansion project will begin in 2006, when the ethylene production capacity will be expanded from 840,000 tons/year to 1 million tons/year; the Indian Oil Company (IOC) will be located in Panipat Refinery in Haryana State. A set of 857,000 tons/year naphtha cracker will be commissioned in the third quarter of 2010. In the medium term, India’s new ethylene capacity projects include: Trust Industry plans to build a new 1.4 million-ton/year ethylene plant and form an integrated refinery and petrochemical plant with a new 580,000 barrel/day refinery. It is expected to be completed and put into production in 2014. The raw material will be used for refinery exhaust gas and LPG; ONGC PetroAddition, a joint venture of ONGC (26%), GSPC (5%), and some financial institutions, is currently constructing in Dahej, Gujarat, India. A petrochemical complex, including a 1.1 million tonne/year ethylene cracker, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2013.
