China's import of high-end dyes is more dependent

According to related data, the company’s dye production reached 765 thousand tons in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The imports of dyes and organic pigments have also increased substantially. Among them, the increase in imports of dyestuffs in 2010 was about 90%, and the increase in imports of basic dyes was about 43%.

Chang Yingzhi, a researcher in the chemical industry of China Investment Advisors, pointed out that in recent years, the domestic and international industries such as printing, coatings, plastics, and fibers have developed rapidly, and the demand for dyes has continued to grow. As a result, China's dye production capacity is also expanding. At present, China's dye production is already ranked first in the world. However, due to the low level of repeated construction of dye production capacity in China, some low-grade products with low technological content have already experienced serious overcapacity, while some high-grade dye products require large amounts of imports.

The “Investment Analysis and Prospect Forecast Report of China's Printing and Dyeing Industry 2010-2015” published by the China Investment Advisor shows that due to the development of the dye industry in China for a long time, it has relied on extensive growth methods. At present, China has fewer high-end dyes and some excellent performance. The reactive dyes and high-end pigments can hardly be produced, but high-end products that can be produced domestically are inclined to purchase imported products because of unstable quality. Therefore, China's import of high-end dyes is more dependent.

Zhang Yanlin, research director of China Investment Consulting Co., Ltd. pointed out that although China's dye production is relatively large, but because of the relatively low production capacity of high-end dye products, and it does not have a well-known independent brand, at present China can only be a big dye producing country rather than a strong dye producing country. In the future, the further development of the dye industry in China will require not only increasing product innovation, but also strengthening the brand building of domestic dye products.

According to relevant data, the global dye production is mainly concentrated in China. At present, China's dye production accounts for more than 60% of the global total dye production, but its market share is low. The dye production in China is mainly concentrated in the eastern region, and the dye production in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai accounts for more than 80% of the total dye production in the country. Among them, Zhejiang has the largest output, and its output accounts for about two-thirds of the total domestic dye production.
