Many consumers worry that the formaldehyde of furniture will exceed the standard, and are entangled in the fact that the furniture is damaged after being submitted for inspection and cannot be used anymore. In the future, this worry can be dispelled. It was learned from the open day event held by the laboratory of the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center that the "National Standard for the Limitation of Hazardous Substances in Wooden Furniture" (revision) has been drafted. Carry out the testing of harmful substances, the furniture will not be damaged after the test, and it can be used continuously.
Â
Â
In addition, two newly-developed national standards, "Limits of Harmful Substances in Soft Furniture Sofas" and "Limits of Harmful Substances in Soft Furniture Mattresses", have also been drafted, and currently the three standards are waiting for the relevant departments to release after review. The new standard of upholstered furniture will increase the requirements for environmental performance such as formaldehyde and azo.
Â
According to Luo Xin, executive deputy director of the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, there are currently three main types of people entrusted to the center for furniture testing: furniture manufacturers, sales companies, and consumers. Generally speaking, due to the high temperature and humidity in summer and the rapid release of gas, consumers entrust more inspections.
Â
Luo Xin introduced that this summer the center has accepted more than a dozen consumer furniture testing projects entrusted by consumers. After testing, about 60% are qualified products and 40% are unqualified. The unqualified problem mainly occurs in formaldehyde exceeding the standard, cracking and deformation, etc., and the products in question are mainly concentrated in the building materials city in the remote suburbs or the furniture purchased from small enterprises.
Â
It is understood that at present, furniture testing is charged per piece, and the cost of each piece of furniture testing is about 500 yuan. The detection method is to sample separately according to the different material composition, and then put the sample into standard air for extraction and analysis.
Â
Li Jiguang, deputy director of the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, introduced that non-destructive testing methods will be added in the future. "The center has 11 large environmental climate chambers, the largest is 30 cubic meters and the smallest is 1 cubic meter, which can be used for the overall inspection of furniture."
Â
It is reported that the "National Standards for the Limitation of Hazardous Substances in Wooden Furniture" (Revision) currently drafted by the center has been completed. The standard stipulates that the furniture can be tested at a constant temperature and humidity of 23 and 45% humidity. In addition, after the introduction of the new national standard for soft sofas and mattresses, sofas and mattresses can also be non-destructively tested according to this method.

Car engines are designed around sealed, resilient metal cylinders. Most modern vehicles have between four and eight cylinders, though some vehicles can have as many as sixteen! The cylinders are made to open and close at precisely the correct time to bring in fuel to combine with the spark for burning internally, and to release the exhaust gases produced. While there are several components on an engine, we`ve compiled a list of the most essential car engine parts and their functions, that power your vehicle. Refer to the diagram to locate where they reside on your engine.
Engine valve – This is the very core of the engine. Often made of aluminum or iron, it has several holes to contain the cylinders as well as provide water and oil flow paths to cool and lubricate the engine. Oil paths are narrower than the water flow paths. The engine block also houses the pistons, crankshaft, camshaft, and between four and twelve cylinders-depending on the vehicle, in a line, also known as inline, flat or in the shape of a V.
Pistons – Are a cylindrical apparatus with a flat surface on top. The role of the piston is to transfer energy created from combustion to the crankshaft to propel the vehicle. Pistons travel up and down within the cylinder twice during each rotation of the crankshaft. Pistons on engines that rotate at 1250 RPM, will travel up and down 2500 times per minute. Inside the piston, lie piston rings that are made to help create compression and reduce the friction from the constant rubbing of the cylinder.
Timing Belt/Chain – The camshaft and crankshafts are synchronized to ensure the precise timing in order for the engine to run properly. The belt is made of a heavy-duty rubber with cogs to grasp the pulleys from the camshaft and crankshaft. The chain, similar to your bicycle chain wraps around pulleys with teeth.
