The three types of backstops commonly used in belt conveyors, also known as stoprs, prevent the belt conveyor from running in reverse. There are three types of commonly used backstops:
1, ratchet type. It consists of a ratchet and a pawl. The former has internal and external engagement. The latter has two types: straight and hook.
2, belt type. Place the brake band behind the drive roller, one end fixed to the frame and the other end free. When the belt conveyor is operating normally, the brake band leaves the drum. If a reversal occurs, the brake band enters between the drum and the conveyor belt, preventing reversal.
3, roller type. It consists of a star wheel mounted on the shaft of the drive roller, a sleeve fixed to the frame, and a roller embedded in the gap of the star wheel. The roller is spring-loaded. During normal operation, the roller is biased toward the big end of the star wheel and does not interfere with operation. When a reversal occurs, the rolling process jams at the small end of the notch, preventing the belt conveyor from reversing and stopping. The rollers are generally 4-8, the diameter of the sleeve is 8 times the diameter of the roller, and the height of the notch from the axis is about half of the difference between the diameter of the roller and the sleeve.
