A compatibilizer is a substance that improves the compatibility of a coating component. At present, it is mainly used for recycling and recycling of mixed plastics such as PE, PP and PVC. It improves the compatibility between additives, auxiliary solvents and resins in the formulation.
At present, most of the recycled waste plastics are mixed together and difficult to sort. The mixed plastics have different processing properties and stability properties, which brings great difficulties to the recycling of plastics.
The use of compatibilizers will effectively solve this problem. The use of recycled plastic compatibilizer will greatly improve the mechanical properties of the raw material and recycled material mixture, improve the polymer interface properties, reduce the interfacial tension in the molten state, stabilize the dispersed phase to prevent cooling. Aggregation in the process improves the interfacial force between the phase interfaces and achieves minimum phase separation in the solid state, thereby preventing delamination.
At present, the commonly used compatibilizers in the industry mainly have two types of non-reactive and reactive, and reactive monomers can form in-situ compatibilizers. Application small example:
1. In the recycled PP waste, in addition to PE miscellaneous products, there are also waste PVC products, and multi-recycled PP alloys can be prepared without sorting. However, the alloys obtained by blending such polar plastic products with non-polar products have poor mechanical properties, and the addition of a compatibilizer such as chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) can significantly improve the mechanical properties of the regenerated alloy. In addition, EVA-grafted vinyl chloride copolymer (EVA.g-VC), as a compatibilizer for PVC/PE blends, is more effective than CPE in improving fracture strength, elongation at break and impact strength.
2. If PP is present in the mixed waste plastic with PVC as the main component, PP can improve the molding fluidity of the PVC material. At this time, if CPE and EPDM are used as compatibilizers, when the ratio of the four is 100:10:20:20, the impact strength of the alloy can be maximized. For mixed waste plastics with PVC and PE as the main components, CPE, ABS and EVA are good compatibilizers.
