Xu Changlin, Secretary General of Nanjing Family Association: Nanjing furniture industry is on the rise

At the beginning of the new year, Vientiane has been renewed. Today, the furniture industry in Zhejiang and Guangdong has strong development momentum. What is the current status of the furniture industry in Nanjing? What aspects need to catch up? What are the highlights of Nanjing furniture industry? To this end, the reporter interviewed Xu Changlin, Secretary General of Nanjing Furniture Industry Association.

Reporter: I am very happy to interview Secretary-General Xu today. Could you please ask Secretary-General Xu to tell us something about the Nanjing furniture industry? What is the current state of development?

Xu Changlin: As early as in the 1980s, there was a famous "four carriage" in the national furniture market. Furniture in Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Qingdao accounted for most of the national market. Nanjing real estate brand furniture even entered High-end venues such as the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. In the 1990s, Nanjing real estate brand furniture gradually lost its leading position in the national furniture market and fell to about eighth place. It has been hovering around this position for so many years.

Now our local brands update production equipment, introduce talents, pay attention to technological transformation, strengthen market information, and a new round of takeoff is ready to take off.

Compared with some furniture companies in Zhejiang, because they used to be poor and change, so they are very hard-working. The area around Nanjing has always been relatively rich and comfortable, and it is a bit lacking in enterprising spirit. Not everyone is calling the big Nanjing people "big turnips", but they are more comfortable with the status quo. In fact, whether it is doing business or doing anything is a human factor. From the perspective of Nanjing furniture companies, the biggest problem is that the marketing is not well grasped, and there is still the current situation.

Reporter: What is the development situation of Nanjing furniture industry in recent years? What are the advantages? What are the outstanding corporate representatives?

Xu Changlin: In the past few years, our furniture industry in Nanjing lags behind. After five or six years of rapid development, we have worked hard to catch up in these years. We have targeted some and cultivated some enterprises. Through the guidance and support of associations and colleges, especially Nanjing Forestry University, we have emerged. A group of high-quality enterprises. The furniture industrial park has been created, and the construction of the store in Tangshan has also reached a new height. Regardless of its area and standard, it is first-class in the country. There are a team of capable dealers, so many first-line brands have settled in Nanjing. This shows that the dealers in Nanjing are excellent.

At present, Nanjing's solid wood furniture is developing rapidly, and it can be said that it is the best in Shanghai and Nanjing. Upholstered furniture, our Kirin mattresses, Opel sofas, and Dahongying sofas have all risen. On the market, you can see that Guangdong ’s software brands are relatively few in Nanjing, and Nanjing ’s software brands in Guangdong are relatively few. It can be said that the software industry can go hand in hand with Guangdong. Our quality and price are comparable to those of Guangdong brands, which shows that we have reached this level. The extraordinary Kent, Xiongfeng, Yichun are all well-known brands in solid wood furniture, and Kexiong and Weihao office brands, although our area is not as large as Guangdong and Zhejiang, has always been more than one trend.

Our advantages are mainly in software and solid wood furniture, which have developed relatively well in the past two years, but there is still a gap with other domestic advanced industrial clusters.

Reporter: What are the main focuses of the furniture industry association next year?

Xu Changlin: Recently, we have just held the membership meeting of the association and established the Nanjing Furniture Chamber of Commerce. We have more than 180 member companies, including furniture companies, stores, and distributors.

On the one hand, the work must be completed successfully by the government to the association, such as market complaints, disputes, corporate standards, new standards for sofas and solid wood furniture, and new testing standards are also coming out. There are four types of solid wood furniture: pure Solid wood, solid wood, solid wood composite, solid wood plate type, enterprises should be numbered according to this standard, not casually marked. We will soon change the bid for the enterprise. In addition, we will organize the enterprise to visit some industrial clusters such as Zhejiang and Sichuan accordingly.
Reporter: Is Nanjing's furniture industry mainly export-oriented or domestic-oriented? Has it been affected by the financial crisis in the past two years?

Under the influence of the financial crisis, many furniture companies in Guangdong and Zhejiang have closed down, but the furniture in Nanjing has been affected very little, because our investment in technological transformation is very sufficient, and the strength of the company is very strong. There is a saying that "meat is buried under the bowl to eat". In fact, it is also beneficial for companies to do so. In fact, some companies do not even have factories and equipment is rented. Our furniture companies have their own production bases and equipment. Therefore, it can be said that 90% of the enterprises in the past two years have lived well. Nanjing furniture companies mainly focus on domestic sales, but they are also affected. Exports to domestic sales, whether domestic or foreign sales, the key is the marketing concept Whether it is advanced and how to better open up sales channels is very important.

Reporter: 2010 can be said to be an intensive year of real estate regulation and control policies, and what is the impact of such a real estate market on the furniture market?

Xu Changlin: The impact of the real estate market on the home furnishing industry is definitely there, but how big it is needs to be considered. The furniture industry in Nanjing is uneven, and now people's consumption concepts have changed. What they want is environmental protection and health. The country's standards for the industry are becoming stricter. Some small workshop-style furniture companies and small stores will be eliminated by the market.

The impact of real estate on the home furnishing industry generally has a lag. What the market will do next year, personally think that this impact exists, but the magnitude of the impact is entirely on how industry practitioners do it. However, from the perspective of national policies, it is now actively raising national income. This is also a good thing for the furniture industry. People can only buy things when they have money. When income comes up, it will promote the development of the furniture industry. Of course, this also depends on each company's own product packaging, quality, and marketing. In fact, it still depends on how the company does it. It can't be conservative. I am still optimistic about the industry next year.
